The nutritional composition of a product, i.e. its energy value (calories) and nutrient content (protein, fat, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals) may be determined either by:

laboratory analysis or database analysis

ACC Label offers advice regarding the most appropriate nutritional analysis method, considering the nature of the product and the clients' needs. Occasionally a combination of the two methods is the best solution.

Whichever method is selected, ACC Label is the choice "par excellence".

Laboratory Nutritional Analysis

This method chemically decomposes the products analysed.

ACC Label generally recommends that food product analyses be carried out by an accredited laboratory, because the results obtained this way most accurately reflect the actual product composition. We deal with a laboratory fully accredited by the Standards Council of Canada and can coordinate the analysis procedure on your behalf.

Database Nutritional Analysis

This method consists of a series of computerized calculations to determine the nutrient contribution of each ingredient composing the product, and is based upon the product's written recipe.

Over the years ACC Label's nutritionists have perfected this method of nutritional analysis. In conjunction with high-performance software they use their food science and nutrition knowledge to:

  • verify the soundness of the ingredients' nutritional data;
  • proceed with the nutritional analysis of the product recipes.

As a result our analyses are significantly more precise and reliable than database analyses produced elsewhere.

Nutrition Facts Table

Once a product is analyzed, in a laboratory or by database, the results obtained are used to prepare a legally compliant Nutrition Facts table.

To ensure all graphic standards are respected, ACC Label provides the Nutrition Facts table in print-ready EPS (Encapsulated PostScript) format, allowing the graphic artist to insert the electronic file directly into the label proof.
